Hi Guys,
Malaysia's Jacqueline Sijore put up a brave front to qualify
for the Girls Masters Finals of the World Youth Championship 2012 by
disposing Bernice Lim of Singapore in the Semi-Finals. Top seed, Jacqueline
gave a fiery start with a four bagger and continued to reel home a clean
game for a 228- 171 margin victory over 4th seed, Bernice.
In the title match against 2nd seed, Hwang Yeon-Ju of Korea;
both bowlers fought tooth and nail, Hwang reeled a turkey strike and
Jacqueline responded with a 4 bagger strikes. A 4-10 split in the 8th frame
by Jacqueline allowed Hwang to draw level and the match went into the wire.
Hwang made a 8 spare 9in her last frame. The situation required Jacqueline
to strike out in her last frame to force a tie breaker. Jacqueline was
poised and released a solid 1-3 pocket delivery but much to the chagrin of
the supporting crowd, the wobbling 10 pin fail to fall. Jacqueline spared
the frame and made a solid strike for a 215 game, thus lost the match to
Hwang who finished with 226 game. Hence, the top seed jinx still prevails
in this championships.
In the earlier Semi-Finals match, Hwang defeated Dayang
Khairuniza with a 223-181 margin.
In this edition of the World Youth Championships 2012, Team
Malaysia collected 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medals; an improvement over the
last edition.
Regards.*
