Alas, a refreshing day for Team Malaysia. It's heartening to watch our our young Malaysian Harimau rookies bowled their hearts out in the Boys' Doubles event at Tali Bowl yesterday afternoon.
After earning the top spot in Squad 2, Aris Ardilla and perfect game achiever, Syimir Abdul Razak have to endure the agony of waiting for another 3 hours for Squad 3 to complete their event. In Squad 3, 4 competing countries' teams were in contention for a Semi-Finals' berth. Team USA 2, England, Nederlands and Sweden were battling out. In the end, Team USA 2 was the only team to overtake Team Malaysia as 2nd seed, hence joined top seed Korea, 3rd seed Malaysia and 4th seed USA 1 to the Semi-Finals.
In the Semi-Finals, all the four teams' performances were affected by the fresh oiling. The Semi-Finals started less than 15 minutes after oiling dressing was done. All the semi-finalists scorelines were below 200 game. Syimir started off with a 8 split-frame opened and encountered another 2 split frames before reeling a double strikes to end on 169. Aris could not string his strikes and finished on 174 with 1 split frame also. Their opponents, Devin Bidwell and Jacob Peters bowled 194 & 192 respectively to win the match 386-343
His Excellency, Malaysian Ambassador, Mr. Cheah Choong Kit, his wife and staff of our Embassy were present to cheer our bowlers in action. At the medal ceremony, H.E Ambassador was invited to present the medals to the winners.
