Malaysian Judo Team




We are pleased with the warm reception received by our Judo Team in Ulaanbattar Mongolia. Our Pelapis Judo team is there to train for a month with the Mongolian National Team in and also compete in the Judo World Cup "Chinggis Khaan's Cup". All the best to them and we hope we will hear some good news from the competition.

The local media in Ulaanbattar cover our participation in the competition and this will promote Malaysia to the Mongolian.

MONGOLIA PREPARES FOR JUDO WORLD CUP

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ On Thursday, the Mongolian Judo Federation (MJF) started selling tickets for the Judo World Cup named "Chinggis Khaan's Cup" to run from October 31 to November 1 in Ulaanbaatar. It is organized under auspices of Mongolia's President Ts.Elbegdorj.

According to the organizers, the ticket costs MNT 125 thousand. Besides it, reporters that want to cover the competitions are expected to pay USD 100 entrance fee. As of today, teams from more than 20 countries applied for participating in the competitions.

Judoists of Czech Republic and Malaysia have recently come in the host nation. They already started their training in the "B" training hall of the Central Sports Palace. Our 56 judoists of the national selected team are training in the Olympic training center in Erdenet.

The size of prize fund of the Chingis Khaan's Cup is become equal with that of World Championships. So, a winner will receive USD 3,000, a silver medalist--USD 1,500 and a bronze medalist--USD 1,000. The Cup and medals have been made in the Republic of Korea.

Meanwhile, repair is being performed in the Central Sports Palace to receive world top judoists. A commission of International Judo Federation will arrive here to get acquainted with the preparation for the World Cup.
